This is my personal style guide. It documents how I write, what I believe about writing, and the conventions I use on this site.

Tone

Write plainly. Prefer short sentences. Cut anything that doesn't add meaning.

Quotes

Use blockquotes (>) for direct quotes. Always attribute. Format: quote first, attribution on the next line with an em dash.

Structure

Use ## for top-level sections. Go no deeper than ###. If you need more nesting, the section is too complex.

Status labels

  • draft โ€” rough, unreviewed
  • in-progress โ€” actively being developed
  • finished โ€” complete and unlikely to change
